Koenigsegg Agera R/アゲーラRは、2011年から2014年にかけて18台が生産されました。

アゲーラをベースにパフォーマンスとスタイリングの両面を進化させたアゲーラRの各部には多くの新技術が採用されました。

アップグレードされた内容として、クリアカーボンフロントボンネット/バンパー、新設計のフロントサイドウィングレット、新設計エアロエキゾースト、レブリミットが引き上げられパワーアップしたエンジン、独自開発のセラミックピストンブレーキシステムがあります。

2007年にバイオ燃料対応のCCXRの誕生により、ケーニグセグはグリーンテクノロジーに配慮した初のハイパーカーメーカーとなりました。世界中で高い評価を受けたアゲーラをベースに誕生したアゲーラ RもまたCCXRの後継車としてバイオ燃料による走行が可能です。

アゲーラ Rはアップグレードされたエンジンマネージメントシステムを持ち、95オクタンガソリンとE100バイオ燃料が使用できるだけで無く、2種類の燃料が混合した場合でも、燃料の混合比を感知し瞬時に燃焼を調整をする事で走行が可能です。

アゲーラ Rのインジェクターは、E85/E100バイオ燃料使用により最高出力1140hp、1200Nmを発生しますが、バイオ燃料は通常のガソリンに比べてエネルギー密度が少ない事から、2000hpガソリンエンジンに必要とされる燃料吐出量が必要であった為、アゲーラRのリターンレス燃料システムは当時のプロダクションカーで最も高い燃料吐出容量を備えています。95オクタンガソリンでは、E85燃料にくらべてオクタン価が低い為、これに合わせてブーストと点火時期を調節し、960hpと1100Nmを出力します。

アゲーラ Rのエンジンは、最善の効率を求めて、最先端技術のデザインと素材のタービンブレードとタービン主軸を採用した事で、慣性モーメントを低減し、さらなるレスポンスの向上が実現されています。

2011年には、アゲーラ Rは0-300-0km/h 世界新記録を樹立しました。21.19秒というタイムは2015年にケーニグセグOne:1に更新されるまで記録を維持していました。
